Messiaen: Vingt Regards sur L’Enfant-Jésus (complete)
“A shout of joy on the brink of the abyss”: composer, pianist, visionary and believer, Olivier Messiaen saw the worst that the 20th century had to offer, and responded with music of cosmic beauty, exuberance and colour. This immersive three-day series of performances revolves around the epic cycle Vingt regards sur l’enfant-Jésus: but pianist Cordelia Williams is also joined by other major exponents of Messiaen’s music to bring one of the last century’s most innovative and life-affirming composers brilliantly into focus.
